The 83rd installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, a mixed martial arts (MMA) event, was held on April 19, 2008, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. It was titled Serra vs St-Pierre 2 , because the headliner of the event was the battle for undisputed Welterweight champion between Georges St. Pierre and Matt Serra, and it was also there second bout. Fighting in front of over 21,000 people, Georges KOed Matt with his knees at the 4:45 mark of the 2nd Round to win. With the KO, he became the undisputed Welterweight champion.

Other than the championship match, there were ten other matches, and twenty other fighters on display at this highly anticipated event. On the preliminary card, there was only one matched broadcasted, in which Jonathan Goulet KOed Kuniyoshi Hironaka at the 2:07 mark of the 2nd round. The match was a Welterweight bout. On the main card, Mac Danzig beat Mark Bocek through submission with a near naked choke in the third round of a Lightweight bout. In a Middleweight bout, Michael Bisping defeated Charles McCarthy with a TKO near the end of the 1st round. Another Middleweight bout between Kalib Starnes and Nate Quarry was much more notable. Quarry beat Starnes by unanimous decision, receiving the second largest point total ever from the third judge. Starnes lost because he kept backing off from Quarry, causing the crowd to jeer at him and boo. Quarry even mocked him in the third round with a running man gesture. In another Middleweight bout, Rich Franklin TKOed Travis Lutter at the 3:01 mark of Round 2.

For the awards, Goulet vs. Hironaka won Fight of the Night. Submission of the Night went to Demian Maia, for his triangle choke on Ed Herman in a Middleweight bout on the Preliminary Card. Knockout of the Night went to the Canadian, Jason McDonald, for his win over Joe Doerksen in the second round of a Middleweight bout on the Preliminary card. All winners received $75,000 for winning the awards, which was a small prize, considering the total gate went over $5 million.
