Chuck Liddell Retiring?

After Chuck Liddell lost to Keith Jardine at UFC 76 , rumer had it that Chuck Liddell “The Iceman” was going to retire for mixed martial arts competition.

But his trainer John Hackleman can reveal that “The Iceman” will not be retiring anytime soon!

Liddell’s retirement sparked when Dana White UFC President pondered on “The Iceman’s” retirement in a interview with Yahoo! Sports, saying that its gonna happen soon!

“There’s a hunger thing that you have to have to be an elite fighter and I just didn’t see a Chuck Liddell who was as hungry as he used to be,” White said after UFC 76.  “Chuck has made a lot of money in this business and he’s done a lot of things, but he wasn’t the Chuck of old.”

“You’re dealing with a guy that just lost a fight, is totally depressed right after a humungous loss,” Hackleman told thefightnetwork.com.  “Of course, he’s disappointed.  We didn’t get into details about the fight, especially after a loss, because that’s not the time you want to talk about it.  We usually talk about it when we get back in the gym.”

Hackleman said that Liddell has plans to fight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, winner of the PRIDE Fighting Championship, who just lost to Forrest Griffin in the lightweight fight in UFC 76

“He’s already said he’ll be back in the gym next Monday,” Hackleman, who has coached Liddell for 16 years, said.  “He’s going to fight again, hopefully as soon as possible, maybe in December. We’re looking at Shogun.”

“Chuck will face anyone they put in front of him,” Hackleman added.  Due to their formidable records, a bout between Liddell and Rua would catapult either fighter back into title contention.”
